hello this is my entry
I made this in probably ~6 hours over the course of a few days
I used pxtone which has its limitations (not much in the way of effects besides delay, no loop points) and its strengths (really great porta!)
and I decided not to process any of the samples before using them! I don't really have any skills at that yet so I thought it might be a waste of time.
so I decided to let the limitations sort of guide the composition as inspiration and self-enforced challenge, which created some interesting byproducts; e.g. the strings jumping down the octave out of sync, little gaps in the oboe between loops, some of the breakbeat polymetric-ness towards the end
the title is derived from the great love of donkey kong's goofy world and characters that I have developed over the past couple years. this song is dedicated to my good pals who share that love. when I heard the "dude funky" and "mm banana" samples I knew what I had to do.
composition-wise I don't really know where it came from. I don't really make "trippy" music a lot so that was kind of an experiment. there's some parts that remind me a lot of the silver case soundtrack. I used the dk country sound a little but it really mutated into something else. that keyboard solo was inspired by nothing in particular, it just erupted uncontrollably from my head. I'm really glad fm_horn was here again, I don't know what I would have done without it.
thanks for listening and letting me participate again! this was a lot of fun. you're all great
pxtone 4ever!
