wild dreams from accidental naps from summers ago
this one is a little more of a natural fit for the battle theme (though it was not a big winner like triangle)
things I drew inspiration from:
- the sorta discomfort and haziness of accidental naps in your clothes on the couch, especially in the summer when everything's sticky
- the wild progression and density of dreams when one is just on the edge of sleep
- two people have recalled having a conversation about someone being weird because they slept in their jeans, but one said I was the jean-sleeper in question and the other one said it was my roommate.. what a mystery
this one really zips through ideas and styles fast.. I think the eventual reworked version will rein it in a little but not too much! because in some ways this is a dreamy effect
I wanted to have a mix of rhythms and meters in this one. often my tunes have a sorta central rhythm that stays solid for the whole thing (no backbeat! wow). also tried to do wacky unexpected things with the harmony, but still keep it flowing
also thinking about a sort of "counterpoint" between a highly melodic bassline and a lead, in some sections of this one
the first sample I added was a little out of tune, which I eventually realized and retuned everything else to match. except the bass because it kinda made it sound weird. so the whole tune is a little sharper than a440 but the bass is relatively flat. interesting effect
